Hello! I’m Lavin.
If you are looking for a blog about a picture-perfect house and children who never make a mess, you are in the wrong place. But if you want real-life tips on how to handle energetic toddlers, guide strong-willed kids, and lead a family through wonderful, beautiful chaos, you are in exactly the right spot.
By day, I am the Chief Teller at Canadia Bank Plc. I have spent over a decade in the banking industry, working my way up from a Teller in 2013, to a Customer Service Officer, to my current leadership role.

I spend my professional hours managing teams, solving complex problems, and keeping everything running with perfect order and structure.
But the moment I walk through my front door, I face my toughest management challenge yet: my two children.
Why “Sprout Upward”?
Before I ever worked in a bank, I started my journey in 2011 as a Youth Worker at the Puthikoma Organization in Battambang.
That experience planted a seed in my heart about the importance of guiding and nurturing young minds.
When I became a parent, I realized something important: The leadership skills I use at the bank, combined with the empathy I learned as a Youth Worker, are the exact tools needed to raise a family.
- Managing a 3-year-old’s meltdown? That’s Crisis De-escalation.
- Helping an 8-year-old navigate big emotions? That’s Team Development.
- Explaining why we don’t dump our dinner on the floor? That’s Policy Enforcement.
I started Sprout Upward to share how we can step up as the intentional leaders of our homes. It is about applying real leadership strategies to real, messy family life.

Meet The “Management Team”
This blog isn’t just theory; it’s my daily life. Here is the team that tests my patience and fills my heart every single day.
1. The “Assistant Manager” (My Daughter, 8)
She is smart, fiercely independent, and growing up so fast. She helps me test my strategies on building confidence and emotional intelligence. She teaches me that as our kids grow, our leadership style has to grow and adapt with them.
2. The “Chief of Chaos” (My Son, 3)
He is currently in charge of testing my stress limits and reminding me not to take life too seriously. If you walk into my house, you might find him playing the drums on pots and pans.

You will definitely find him turning my clean laundry piles into an obstacle course. He keeps me grounded in the reality of the toddler years!
What You Will Find Here
My goal is to help you shift from just surviving the days to actively leading your family. Here is how I break it down on the blog:
- Building Confidence: Equipping your children with the self-esteem and resilience they need to face the world.
- Guiding Growth: Navigating the ups and downs of child development, from toddler tantrums to school-age independence.
- Nurturing Roots: Building a strong home culture, deep connection, and daily routines that create a safe haven.
- Cultivating Leadership: Empowering you to step into your role as the confident, intentional guide of your home.
A Note on Expertise
While I have years of experience in youth work and corporate leadership, I am not a pediatrician or a psychologist.
My advice comes from my professional background in managing teams and my very real, very hands-on experience as a parent of two. Always trust your own instincts when leading your family.
